connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

About us:
, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, opened a new headspace centre in Bairnsdale in March 2017. The lead agency for headspace Bairnsdale is Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV). 
headspace Bairnsdale is governed by a consortium of local community organisations and the centre provides early intervention services at no cost for young people aged 12-25 years across 4 core areas:

  • Primary Health Care
  • Mental Health & Counselling 
  • Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Services (ATODS) 
  • Vocational/Educational Services

About the role:
Reporting to the Centre Manager headspace Bairnsdale, you will work in a fast-paced environment and be an experienced professional with considerable knowledge and oversight of the coordination and delivery of clinical services. The Clinical Leader is responsible for providing clinical leadership and direction to the Centre team, ensuring that day-to-day clinical work is carried out to effectively meet the needs of young people. The Clinical Leader will also provide clinical support and guidance to clinical staff and ensure they are provided with adequate supervision.

Qualifications and Registrations:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in an allied health discipline including social work, psychology, mental health nursing or occupational therapy.
  • Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or current full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Eligibility to apply for a Medicare Provider number and undertake relevant Medicare rebated sessions as part of the role.


  • Demonstrated experience and advanced level clinical skills in a range of mental health service settings.
  • Experience in complex clinical intake, assessment and referral.
  • Experience in service development and maintaining continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, including the provision of clinical supervision and the facilitation of clinical review and performance management processes.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people, in particular to respond to young people with respect and sensitivity.
  • A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.

This role is based in our office in headspace Bairnsdale and is for a fixed contract to 30 June 2018, with the likely possibility of extending beyond the 6 month period following an anticipated funding extension. RAV centres (including headspace Bairnsdale) may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning.  For this role, you will be required to work on Tuesday evenings each week, which is outside of standard business hours.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
