Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support


RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

  • Assist in this key co-ordination role to support RAV providing legally assisted and culturally appropriate family dispute resolution services
  • Part time, 4 days per week
  • Salary package range pro-rata of $80k-$87k, tax-free benefits & superannuation.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced and accredited Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Practitioner to join our Sunshine centre working with CALD communities.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager West, the Coordinator – Legally Assisted and Culturally Appropriate Family Dispute Resolution (LACAFDR) responsibilities are to improve access to culturally sensitive, enhanced family dispute resolution and family violence services for the Vietnamese community.

 

The role has primary responsibility for coordinating the Safe Resolutions service and requires both FDR, project skills and experience. The model requires outreaching to a range of community services, community engagement components, and relies on the development of strong inter-service partnerships.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences (Psychology, social work) or Law or related field.
  • Vocational Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution.
  • Accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
  • Coordination and supervision skills experience within a community based agency setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise working with families affected by family violence.
  • Demonstrated experience working with CALD communities.
  • The ability to speak Vietnamese would be highly desirable.

 

This role is based in our Sunshine Family Relationships Centre.  RAV centres may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning.  Depending upon the role and location, you may be required to work an evening each week or other working hours will be negotiated which may be outside of standard business hours, on a regular basis.

 

This role is funded for a 2 year fixed-term contract period which will end in June, 2019.  The successful candidate will be offered a long term contract to cover this period of time.

 

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
