connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Counsellor/Psychologist - Kew

  • Two vacancies, both part-time 3 days, 22hrs per week, commencing January 2018, for a fixed term of 6 months during the pilot period with the potential for extension.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced and registered counsellor/psychologist (x 2) to join our Kew Centre for a new program being piloted in early 2018.

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Kew and Business Development, your responsibilities include effective, high quality and culturally sensitive counselling for individuals, couples and families.
In this position you will respond to a diverse range of counselling issues and mental health disorders including delivery of counselling services under the Medicare “Better Access” scheme and for clients seeking to claim a rebate on psychology extras with their private health insurer.
You will also need to be able to provide one or more of the following:

  • Counselling for children and young people with behavioural, developmental or common mental health problems, 
  • Family Therapy, and
  • Specialist Couple Counselling

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a psychologist (non-provisional),
  • A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in relevant service settings, including the delivery of focussed psychological strategies to clients under the Medicare “Better Access” scheme,
  • Possession of a current Medicare provider number for the provision of focussed psychological strategies services by allied health providers (Note: Successful candidates will be required to register for Medicare service provision from our Kew centre).
  • Understanding and practical application of relevant legislative regulations pertaining to the psychology industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess for family violence.

Based in our Kew centre you will contribute to the development of a new service offering by RAV. As such, there is the potential for the role to extend beyond the initial 6-month pilot period.

Our Kew centre is open three evenings a week and Saturdays.  Depending on client demand and operational requirements you may be required to work evenings on a regular basis.
