Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner - Berwick

  • Permanent, part-time position (3 days per week).
  • Located in Berwick at the Family Relationships Centre.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Southern and Eastern Melbourne, a key focus of this role will include property mediation services, including undertaking assessments. Opportunities may also be provided for family dispute resolution (FDR) in parenting matters as well as group work.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences including Psychology, Social Work or Law or related field and successful completion of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution,
  • Registration as an FDRP under the Accreditation  Rules or on the Register of FDRP maintained by the Attorney-General’s Department or eligible to be registered,
  • Experience or training in property or a willingness to undertake training, and,
  • Demonstrated previous experience as a family dispute resolution practitioner (advantageous).

This role is based in our office in our Berwick centre.  RAV centres may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week. Depending upon the role and location, you may be required to work an evening each week or other working hours will be negotiated which may be outside of standard business hours, on a regular basis.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children check prior to employment.
