Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner - Melbourne

About the role
Reporting to the Centre Manager your responsibility is to provide Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) to separating couples by assisting them to resolve issues in dispute such as parenting arrangements and property division, and assisting them to develop parenting plans. The role will also include assessment for appropriateness for FDR, screening for family violence and other risks and identification of presenting needs.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences including Psychology, Social Work or Law or related field and successful completion of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution.
  • Registration as an FDRP under the Accreditation Rules or on the Register of FDRP maintained by the Attorney-General’s Department or eligible to be registered.
  • Experience or training in property or a willingness to undertake training, and,
  • Demonstrated previous experience as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (advantageous).

This role is based in our office in Melbourne CBD.  RAV centres may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning.  For this role you will be required to work one late night (Thursday) per week as part of your normal roster.
