Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support


RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner - Sunshine

About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Western Region, you will be responsible for providing FDR to families by assisting to resolve issues in dispute primarily parenting arrangements. The role is responsible for undertaking assessments, FDR, group work (as required) and for providing information, support and referral to match presenting needs to services and programs. 

Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work or Law,
  • Successful completion of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution,
  • Registration as an FDRP under the Accreditation Rules or on the Register of FDRP maintained by the Attorney-General’s Department or eligible to be registered immediately,
  • Demonstrated previous experience as a family dispute resolution practitioner (preferable), and,
  • Previous experience in child consulting and/or training (preferable).

This role is based in our Sunshine centre. The centre is open two evenings a week and for this position, you will be required to work Wednesday evenings on a regular basis. This position is permanent part-time for 4 days per week with an additional 1 day per week making the role full-time until July 2019.
