Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Family Safety Practitioner - ChangeAbout

  • Child protection and case management in family violence.
  • Multiple casual positions across Melbourne Metro and Regional Victoria.

Have you had child protection and case management experience? We are seeking a suitably qualified, motivated and experienced Family Safety Practitioner to join RAV.

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager State Services, with day to day supervision by the Programs Manager State Services, your responsibilities include conducting telephone psycho-social assessments with partners and family members including children of the men participating in the ChangeAbout program. You will also be an information and referral source for affected family members, including warm referrals to a range of RAV support, therapeutic and group work programs with a focus on parenting and parent-child relationships.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related social science discipline
  • Significant experience in undertaking whole of family psychosocial assessments and safety plans.
  • Knowledge of the processes of Men’s Behaviour change group work.
  • Significant experience working with parents and children affected by family violence.
  • Understanding of and training in the use of the CRAF when assessing risk to individuals experiencing family violence.

This role is for casuals across Melbourne and regional Victoria. RAV will provide flexibility for the successful person/s to operate from any RAV centre. The State Services team is mainly based at RAV Central Office, Camberwell. You can expect that this work will involve evenings and possibly weekend work as well.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
