headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, will be opening a new centre in Bairnsdale. The lead agency for headspace Bairnsdale is Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV). RAV is a valued provider of specialist family services. Our vision is for positive, safe and respectful relationships for couples, families, schools, workplaces and communities. Our objective is to relieve suffering, distress and helplessness and to enhance physical, social and emotional wellbeing. RAV provides services from 14 centres in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, and from additional outreach locations.
headspace Bairnsdale is governed by a consortium of local community organisations and the centre provides early intervention services at no cost for young people aged 12-25 years across 4 core areas:
About the role
Reporting to the Centre Manager, this is an important position with primary responsibility for co-ordinating services to young people with a range of mental health disorders, including undertaking assessment and ongoing care in accordance with best practice and clinical guidelines. The Mental Health Nurse will provide general health checks for young people and where required instigate a mental health treatment plan on behalf of a GP.

This role is based in our office in Bairnsdale centre and is for a fixed-term contract to June 2018. This centre may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning. Depending upon the role and location, you may be required to work an evening each week or other working hours will be negotiated which may be outside of standard business hours, on a regular basis.
RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
