Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support


RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Practice Specialist - Family Violence

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced professional to join our Practice Quality and Evaluation team, working in this senior family violence specialist role, to enhance RAV programs and services for families, women and children affected by family violence.

 About the role:

Reporting to the General Manager, Practice Quality and Evaluation your responsibilities include providing practice leadership for family violence services at RAV by undertaking projects that enhance family violence clinical governance practice, program and service development such as family dispute resolution and family counselling programs.  You will also develop family violence service related policies, procedures and documentation ensuring our programs are aligned within the sector and progressed in relation to developments.  This role will also have oversight of RAV’s Men’s Behaviour Change Program work and building the capacity of clinical supervisors and those who respond to family violence concerns for individuals, families including children.

 Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or a related discipline,
  • Community services sector experience, including specific experience in funded family violence programs for individuals and families,
  • Substantial experience working with families affected by family violence, particular in the delivery of recovery services for women and children,
  • Contemporary knowledge of government/sector policy and research in relation to family violence and the capacity to translate this into organisational policy and procedures.

 This role is based in our Melbourne CBD centre.  The successful incumbent will be employed on a long term fixed-term contract to enable them to successfully lead and develop family violence related programs and services for RAV across Victoria.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
