Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Senior Family Violence Practitioner - Melbourne South East

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Melbourne South and East with day-to-day line management supervision from the Co-ordinator Family Violence (South/East) you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality family violence support services and programs through an integrative and co-ordinated practice response when engaged with individuals, women or family that are affected by family violence.  You will offer high quality clinical supervision for all allocated family violence staff across Southern and Eastern Melbourne.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related social science discipline,
  • Completion of ‘No to Violence’ Graduate Certificate in Male Behaviour Change Group Facilitation through Swinburne University,
  • Experience in the provision of family violence supervision with staff working with men, women and children,
  • Experience in the provision of high quality assessment of individuals and families, where family violence is an identified risk, and,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,

This role will be based at our Cranbourne and Boronia RAV centres in the South/East and will require travel to the Kew centre. RAV centres may be open, depending on client demand and operational requirements, 1-2 nights per week or a Saturday morning.  Depending upon the role and location, you may be required to work an evening each week or other working hours will be negotiated which may be outside of standard business hours, on a regular basis.

RAV requires all employees to undertake a satisfactory National and/or International Police Check (if applicable) and Working with Children Check prior to employment.
