connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Workshop review: Responding to family violence in the workplace

Relationships Australia Victoria
12:50pm Monday, 8 May 2017

We have recently conducted our one-day Responding to family violence in the workplace workshops with a range of organisations and workplaces.

Designed for Human Resources staff and managers, contact officers and other staff who may support staff experiencing family violence, this workshop covers topics including:

  • what is family violence
  • current prevalence of family violence in Australia
  • barriers to disclosing family violence
  • indicators of family violence
  • how to appropriately respond to disclosures of family violence
  • how to make referrals to specialist support organisations
  • self-care.

The workshop is very interactive and helps participants to become more comfortable with this difficult topic and having conversations with colleagues.

Participants commented that the training was relevant and helpful, resulting in increased confidence in approaching conversations about family violence, and a greater understanding of their role in assisting an employee, if required.

  • “(The workshop provided) many opportunities to raise and explore issues/concerns/anxieties around what is a complex and sensitive issue.”
  • “It was very informative and well run. I found the interactive nature of the session very helpful.”
