connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Services for children, young people and families

RAV provides a range of services to support children, young people and their families.

We offer a wide range of services to support children, young people and their families. Our core expertise is in supporting individuals and families through difficult life events, such as separation and divorce, experiences of family violence, mental or emotional health difficulties or any relationship issue that is causing stress or concern.

We focus on a whole of family approach with expertise working across the life cycle. This means that we are able to offer support and counselling for individuals, couples and parents, and support relationships between parents and their children or teenagers at different stages of their lives.

We have a commitment to working with these social and wellbeing issues:

  • in a preventative way with whole communities, such as at schools and in maternal and child health centres;
  • in an early intervention way to assist individuals and families to maintain healthy relationships;
  • by offering high quality services to families that have been through or are going through difficult life experiences. For example, where families have been affected by mental health or emotional heath difficulties or family violence and these experiences have been traumatic.

RAV's services for children, young people and families include: Child and family counselling, Family Dispute Resolution (including Child-Inclusive Family Dispute Resolution) and Relationship education programs for children, mothers, fathers and parents.

We have a range of specialised programs and services:

We have also developed My Parents 'n' Me, a group supporting children after separation. This group was developed in response to the significant numbers of parents experiencing high conflict. These parents are not only in conflict with each other, but may also be struggling with entrenched mental health difficulties. The children who attend this group often have parents who present with a high prevalence disorder, have not been able to resolve their separation and divorce matters on their own or through dispute resolution, or are involved in prolonged and protracted Family Court matters.

The majority of the clients who use this service are experiencing financial, abuse, or other disadvantage.

RAV does not provide a crisis service. If you need urgent help, please contact Kids Helpline.
