connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Counsellor Couple, Family and Child - Shepparton

  • Permanent, part-time (3 days, 22 hrs per week).
  • Base salary $79k - $80kpa (pro-rata), superannuation, tax-free benefits.
  • Located in Shepparton, Central North West Victoria.

About the role:

Reporting to the Centre Manager and working closely with the Shepparton team your responsibilities will include the provision of high quality, culturally sensitive relationship counselling and therapy, including education programs to individuals, couples and families. Counsellors will have expertise in childhood development and family dynamics and be able to respond to a diverse range of issues: including trauma, violence and abuse, parenting concerns, stress and anxiety, separation and divorce and blended families. 

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated application of therapeutic modalities relevant to working with individuals, couples and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to use therapeutic interventions and use appropriate good assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, couples and families where family violence is present and accurately assess for family violence.
  • Previous experience working in an environment delivering tailored programs and services to a diverse range of community clients, including CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island community, mental health issues, family violence issues and individuals at risk.

This role is based in our Shepparton centre. This is a permanent, part-time (3 days, 22 hrs per week) position and the successful candidate will be required to work a late evening on Tuesdays.
