headspace, is an Australian non-profit organisation for youth mental health established by the Australian government in 2006 which provides early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year old’s along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. The Lead Agency for headspace Wonthaggi is Relationships Australia Victoria.
All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Gippsland Primary Health Network. headspace covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. These are delivered through the headspace Wonthaggi Centre, with outposted services provided in Cowes, Foster, Korumburra, Leongatha and Wonthaggi.
The Consortium provides expertise, support and advice to Relationships Australia Victoria and its representatives: Senior Manager Gippsland, Relationship Australia Victoria and the Centre Manager headspace Wonthaggi.
We are seeking an experienced health and/or community sector leader with demonstrated corporate and clinical governance skills, a commitment to the health and wellbeing of young people and a collaborative decision-making style. The Chairperson will provide leadership to the Consortium, ensuring members work effectively together to best achieve the mission of headspace Wonthaggi. The role includes mentorship of the Co-Chair (Youth Representative). This position collaborates closely with the Senior Manager Gippsland, Relationship Australia Victoria - Lead Agency for headspace Wonthaggi. Administrative and executive support will be provided by the Senior Manager Gippsland, Relationship Australia Victoria and the Centre Manager headspace Wonthaggi.

Co-Chairperson (Youth Representative)
The Co-Chair (Youth Representative) will also provide leadership to the headspace Wonthaggi Consortium. We are seeking a young person (12-25 years) interested in providing the consortium with ideas about the improving mental health and wellbeing of young people in Bass Coast and South Gippsland. The Co-Chair will be provided with mentoring from the Independent Chairperson.

Both positions are voluntary. The Independent Chairperson is fixed-term for 2 years and the Co-Chairperson is fixed-term for 12 months. Travel and related costs will be reimbursed.
