connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.


Youth Access Worker - Bass Coast South Gippsland

About the role

Reporting to the Centre Manager headspace Bass Coast-South Gippsland, the purpose of the Youth Access Worker position is to effectively engage, screen, assess, refer, provide brief interventions and to coordinate care for young people aged 12-25 years that are referred to the headspace centre Access workers are part of a multi-disciplinary team, including general practitioners, allied health clinicians, community engagement workers, and support staff.

Qualifications and Registrations:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in health, behavioural/social sciences, community services, or a related discipline that provides a sound understanding and knowledge of assessing and working with young people at risk.
  • Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) preferred.


  • The ability and experience to undertake intake and screening activities to determine client needs, and to assist clients to access appropriate services.
  • The ability and experience to conduct risk assessments, including suicide and violence risks, and to develop action plans that mitigate these risks.
  • The ability and experience to be able to deliver brief therapeutic interventions, counselling services and treatment planning.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health, including related evidence-based interventions and clinical practice.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people, in particular the ability to engage with young people and advocate on their behalf.
  • A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.

We have four positions available:  2 x 4 days per week with a late night on Tuesday and 2 x 3 days per week with a late night on Tuesday. All four positions are part-time, fixed term contract until 30th June 2019 with the likely opportunity for extension subject to funding. You will also be required to provide services one day a week to a headspace Bass Coast – South Gippsland outpost site.
