Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is now offering clients online support from a professional counsellor, through the launch of our Online Counselling Service.
The new service allows people to book and participate in an online, chat-based counselling appointment with a qualified, experienced RAV counsellor.
RAV’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andrew Bickerdike, said that RAV had developed the online platform to provide an additional way of supporting people who may otherwise not access counselling services.
“We know people can encounter barriers to accessing traditional face-to-face services, because of accessibility issues, convenience or stigma. We also know that technology is changing the way in which services can be delivered, and that some people prefer to access online rather than face-to-face services,” Dr Bickerdike said.
“Our Online Counselling Service has been designed to help more people access services, when and where it suits them. It’s convenient, private and simple to use.”
Individuals who are comfortable using online services can access professional counselling in a safe and supportive space, without needing to physically attend a centre. Through a dedicated website, people can send and receive text-based chat messages to discuss their concerns or challenges with a counsellor, who will provide practical advice and resources to support them to find ways to manage their situation.
RAV’s online counsellors are experienced, qualified professionals who are based in Australia. They hold appropriate tertiary qualifications and have experience across a wide range of wellbeing issues that affect individuals, relationships and families.
RAV has nearly 70 years’ experience providing family and relationship services, supporting more than 26,000 clients a year through broad range of services, including counselling.
“We’re committed to providing high quality services that have positive outcomes for our clients, and more than 98 per cent of our counselling clients are satisfied with the service they receive,” Dr Bickerdike said.
The Online Counselling Service is part of RAV’s commitment to innovation and providing accessible, effective services to strengthen relationships and social connections for all members of the community. It is available to individuals aged 18 years and older.
