Family law is one of the most harrowing areas of legal practice, involving the breakup of families and their assets.
The 8th Family Law Summit will be held in Melbourne on 1 September when speakers offer solutions to some of the most vexing problems for family law practitioners.
Relationships Australia Victoria endorses this important summit, and our Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andrew Bickerdike, will be one of the panelists in a discussion on the Family Law Act amendments "the need for safety from family violence".
Other panel speakers will be Caroline Counsel, President, the Law Institute Victoria; Dr Rae Kaspiew, Senior Research Fellow, Family Law Research Program, Australian Institute of Family Studies; and Dr Renata Alexander, Barrister, Victorian Bar.
The summit program also includes presentations on a snapshot of the most significant family law cases in the past 12 months; discretionary trusts and the Family Law Act; the growth of non-litigation options and arbitration in family law; and issues with super splitting for self-managed funds.
