connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

At Relationships Australia Victoria, we know that there are times when relationships in families can get stuck at particular transitions in life. Some transitions can be very stressful for families, like having a baby, children going to kindergarten, primary or high school, or more significant adjustments, such as a separation or divorce, becoming a stepfamily, or a death of a family member.

For all of these adjustments, we believe it is important to talk things through early. Our counsellors can help you and your family to assess needs, identify areas for change, and to use your strengths to restore or repair your relationships.

Our counsellors will develop a plan with you and offer a mixture of individual, couple, parent and/or family work. We can also see your child, teenager or adolescent for individual sessions.

For some families, there are times when it hasn’t been possible to seek help early, and stresses and difficulties have become very troubling, traumatic and sometimes unsafe. Our counsellors are highly skilled at responding to these situations and can assist and support all of the members of your family to relate to each other in a safer way.

Parenting on your own or establishing a stepfamily can be very difficult. Some parents who are parenting on their own experience increased feelings of loneliness and social isolation. Single parent families may also have the added stress of financial difficulties.

We can assist parents and work with all family members in a supportive and non-judgmental way to build real solutions informed by strengths, wisdom and knowledge of family members.

While RAV charges fees for most services, all fees are appropriate for the service provided and the financial capacity of clients to pay.

We are sensitive to cultural appropriateness and adaptive to meet the needs of a wide range of cultures and community groups.

Our counsellors do not make judgments about who is right or wrong. They don't tell clients what to do or what decisions to make, but rather guide them through a discussion of their feelings, experiences and their options.
