Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support


RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Adult, Adolescent and Child Psychologist Service in Kew

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) has introduced a private adult psychologist and child psychologist service supporting children, individual adults, and couples with a wide range of issues.

Based in our long established Kew Centre at 46 Princess Street, our private psychology team are registered, highly experienced adult psychologists and child psychologists.

- Provided by an organisation with 70 years’ experience.

Rebates can be claimed for this service under a mental health plan through Medicare's Better Access to mental health initiative. To be eligible for this service you will need a referral from a doctor (GP), paediatrician, or psychiatrist. Rebates can also be claimed through private health insurance with relevant extras. 

Based at our Kew Centre, the private psychology team provides a service to children, individual adults, and couples.  Clients can be seen for a range of mental health, relationship, emotional, social, developmental and behavioural issues, as well as life challenges.

The Kew adult and child psychologists

 

Cathy Dixon: Adult Psychologist; Couple Therapist; Adolescent Psychologist.

Cathy is a registered psychologist and counsellor with extensive experience addressing a wide range of needs for clients from diverse backgrounds. She holds a Masters in Psychology from Monash University and is a graduate of RAV's post-graduate Specialist Course in Couple Therapy. Cathy provides couple therapy and focused psychological support for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss and relationship challenges. She is an accredited mindfulness teacher and can provide clients of all ages with therapeutic help in developing mindfulness skills and practices.

 

Catherine Gooden: Child and Adolescent Psychologist; Adult Psychologist.

Catherine is a registered psychologist with a Master of Psychology (Education and Development) from Monash University. Catherine has many years’ experience as child and adolescent psychologist in private and school settings. Experienced in a range of clinical approaches, including play therapy, her areas of interest include helping children with developmental challenges, emotional regulation, anxiety and depression; adjustment to parental divorce or separation, trauma, and grief and loss, as well as common problems that get in the way of children reaching their full potential at school.  Catherine has also worked extensively as an adult psychologist providing help for a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.

How much does an appointment cost? Are any rebates available?

A private appointment costs $150.

Eligible clients can claim a rebate through referral from a doctor (GP), paediatrician, or psychiatrist through Medicare, or through private health insurance with psychology extras. Please talk to your medical practitioner or contact your insurance provider for more information.

Clients will need to claim rebates directly from Medicare or health insurance providers.


When are appointments available?

Daytime and evening appointments are available Monday to Wednesday.
