Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service

The Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service provides support to intercountry adoptees and their families, including young adoptees, adult adoptees and adoptive parents.

Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service (ICAFSS) provides information, counselling and support to help you and your family manage the complexities and unique challenges that intercountry adoption may bring during a lifetime.

Who can access this service?  

  • Intercountry adoptees: children, young people and adults 
  • Adoptive parents of children adopted from overseas or expatriate adoptions
  • Family members of intercountry adoptees
  • Anyone who is going through the intercountry adoption process.

 

What does the service provide?  

  • Individual and family counselling 
  • Case management and casework support  
  • Therapeutic groups  
  • Parenting support
  • Small grants and bursaries scheme
  • Referral to other support services where required.
  • Education and training for allied health and community workers.

 

Cost

This is a free and confidential service.

 

Availability

Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

There is limited flexibility for early and evening appointments.

If you are unable to visit a centre in person, we can also offer counselling via telehealth.
