connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency delivering headspace services for young people in Bass Coast and South Gippsland in Victoria, including through the headspace Wonthaggi Centre.

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12 to 25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug service. headspace has over 100 centres currently operating across Australia and operates an online and telephone service, eheadspace. More than 446,000 young Australians have come to headspace for support, guidance or help over the past 10 years.

The new early intervention mental health services are provided from a central hub in Wonthaggi, in conjunction with outreach locations soon to be established at Youth Access Clinics in Foster, Korumburra, Leongatha, Wonthaggi and Cowes.

headspace Wonthaggi provides free or low cost mental, general and sexual health services as well as education and employment, and alcohol and other drug support services. Their confidential services include sexual assault counselling, group work, disability support, family counselling, vocational guidance, help with job seeking as well as health and wellbeing services for all young people, including young people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQA+) young people.

The operation of headspace Wonthaggi is possible through the collaboration and contribution of a range of local service providers, led by RAV, forming the headspace Wonthaggi Consortium.
