connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through our services.

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

We work closely with Aboriginal organisations and community groups to deliver services to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

RAV is involved in activities during NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week.

Programs

  • Sisters Day Out: Run by the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal service, Sisters Day Out works to prevent family violence by raising awareness, bringing together community networks to reduce social isolation, and providing information and resources to promote community safety. RAV frequently sponsors and supports the program.
  • Brutha's Day Out: RAV has supported the development of the Brutha's Day out program across Victoria. It is a unique way to strengthen and develop Aboriginal men's networks.
  • Aboriginal Dad's Group: The Aboriginal Dad's Group is a program for Aboriginal dads and their children, developed by RAV in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency. The program gives Aboriginal dads and their children the chance to participate in cultural activities.

Training

RAV staff have engaged in cultural awareness training with the Koorie Heritage Trust, as part of RAV's commitment to ensuring our services are culturally appropriate and sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
